[Updated] Nowhere FC Proposes Crowdfunding-Backed, Trans-Media Art Show “FOOTBALL CONCIERGE #05: FRIENDS FLY FREE”

NEWYORK, NY – Nowhere FC Club, the New York-based soccer club comprised of non-professional soccer lovers distinguished for their unique artistic flair, is on a quest to rally soccer and fashion fans alike, in order to host the fifth installment of the its highly successful ongoing event series, Football Concierge. Titled “FOOTBALL CONCIERGE #05: FRIENDS FLY FREE”, the trans-media art show is set to be held in the Fly Nowhere nanogallery, headquarters of the Nowhere FC Club.

The event will showcase the eponymous, Football Concierge “experimental design-system based around hand-built football jerseys and football supporter (“Football Casual”) culture art, embedded into the world with real fans and clubs, and built to travel.” 

Instead of using big-brand blanks as jersey base bodies, each piece, designed in collaboration by Nowhere Club FC members and event supporters, will be built entirely from scratch.

The final pieces will be used to create a unique installation, made by Fly Nowhere Gallery staff members, and put on display inside the gallery, throughout the event’s duration. The public is invited to view the installation, while they can also watch a pitch out in the 100 Forsyth Park located in front of the gallery, or enjoy one of the many European matches playing on one of the screens of the adjoining Football Club café.

In a move befitting the Club’s rule-bending, fashion-forward fusion of the art of garment making and sports/street-wear culture, each jersey constructed during the “FOOTBALL CONCIERGE #05: FRIENDS FLY FREE” will have a matching, “twin” piece.

Upon the event’s conclusion, individual jerseys will be sent out to event supporters, while each jersey’s “twin” piece will be sent to a friend or organization of each supporter’s choice, which can be located anywhere around the world. This way, each jersey effectively serves as a postcard reflecting the event’s message, spreading it, across all corners of the earth, to soccer fans, art supporters, and their beloved alike.

Contrary to the four preceding events, the “FOOTBALL CONCIERGE #05: FRIENDS FLY FREE” event, will be funded, in its entirety, by supporters of the Nowhere FC Club’s crowdfunding campaign, which is currently live on the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform, and will conclude April 4th, 2017.

Sharon Baptist Head Start, an early childhood education and social services center, announced their partnership with Bronx Community College’s (BCC) Teacher Education Career PATH Program (TECPP) to provide the college student interns with advanced early childhood education learning experience. The program is based on Sharon Baptist’s creative curriculum design and will render free professional development training leading to a Child Development Associate (CDA). Credentials will be given to all participants who complete the 17 week program, to help them increase their chances of getting employment.

Global ATM industry market size to reach $21.9 billion by 2020

The global ATM industry market size was around $15.2 billion in 2015. APAC is the fastest growing market in the industry with India and China leading in terms of the number of deployments.

The U.S. and Europe are considered to be major mature markets for the ATM industry. As for the LAMEA region, there is a vacuum in the supply landscape as there is no strong presence of major global players, which could pose a challenge to procurement managers. Besides charting out engagement models and looking for industry best practices, sourcing managers in charge of procuring ATM-related services need to maintain a list of service providers (i.e., suppliers) across various regions along with their capability matrix, the report shows.

The industry adopts various engagement models such as turnkey ATM program, bundled sourcing and in-house programs. Depending on buyer’s business network and requirements, a compatible model could be adopted. For merchants with high transaction volumes, the turnkey model is advantageous as the operations are completely handled by the service providers; the merchant being responsible only for the locations where the ATMs will be set up. The Closing Agent to Collaborate with Central Florida Foundation on Memorial Fund Launch Honoring Pulse Victims

ORLANDO, FL – 25 Mar, 2017 – As a way to honor those who lost their lives in the Pulse tragedy, The Closing Agent, an Orlando-based full-service title and escrow agency, will collaborate with the Central Florida Foundation to launch The 49 Fund, a scholarship fund designed to assist Central Florida LGBT students with tuition expenses. 

The first-of-its-kind fund will provide annually, up to ten (10) scholarships in the amount of $4,900 each paid toward tuition for Central Florida LGBT students attending qualifying institutions. 

To qualify for The  49 Fund scholarship, applicants must self-identify as ‘out’ members of the LGBT community, enroll full-time at a two- or four-year institution of higher learning, and carry a minimum 3.0 GPA. Survivors of the Pulse shooting tragedy and immediate family members of those who lost their lives will receive special consideration.

The 49 Fund will work closely with LGBT organizations to identify potential applicants.  Application requirements include an essay that demonstrates a commitment to the LGBT community along with transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, a college or university acceptance letter, a recommendation letter from the applicant’s current school, and evidence of financial need.

According to Barry Miller, President of The Closing Agent, The 49 Fund will honor victims of the Pulse nightclub tragedy by enhancing educational opportunities for LGBT community members who are committed to making Central Florida a better place for all. 

“As the one-year anniversary of this horrible tragedy approaches, we thought it was the appropriate time to memorialize the lives lost by providing assistance through scholarships to deserving LGBT students who are committed to helping others right here in Central Florida,” said Miller.

Indian Americans honor Kansas hero Ian Grillot with $100,000 to buy a house

HOUSTON, TX – 27 Mar, 2017 – A shooting incident in Olathe, Kansas on February 22, 2017 that is now being investigated as a hate crime, left one person of Indian origin dead and two others injured. While this act of senseless violence has been condemned far and wide, there was also the heroic act of valor of Ian Grillot, 24, a young man from Kansas. Ian showed true sense of the American spirit by standing up to the adversity.

“It is not every day that one meets a genuine hero — a person who risks his life for another, and takes a bullet for a complete stranger. Ian Grillot is a man who reminds us of the promise of America and its greatness,” said Jiten Agarwal, a prominent Houstonian and Chair of India House Houston’s annual gala. India House is a community center built by Americans of Indian origin in the Greater Houston area to serve all who need help.

On behalf of the Indian-American community in Houston, India House recognized this selfless act beyond the call of duty and has extended the community’s gratitude to Ian Grillot by helping him to buy a house. Charlie Yalamanchili, a prominent Houstonian of Indian origin, proposed the house purchase, and offered to match every dollar raised by India House for this cause. With such generous support from Yalamanchili, India House raised $100,000 that will help Ian buy a house in his hometown in Kansas. This initiative was strongly encouraged and supported by the Consul General of India in Houston, Dr. Anupam Ray.

Ian Grillot was the guest of honor at the annual India House Gala on March 25, 2017 in Houston. “Ian has given us an occasion to reaffirm a tie that binds us all as Americans, irrespective of where we come from. This also reminds us of the famous Shakespearean quote: For he that sheds his blood for me today is my brother,” said Agarwal.

“I don’t know if I could’ve lived with myself if I wouldn’t have stopped or attempted to stop the shooter because that would’ve been completely devastating. I do now have a very powerful message and if I can help empower people and spread hope and love, then why not? I am honored to be at India House that serves so many families from so many communities in the Houston area,” Ian said.

With the help of India House trustees, Agarwal mobilized the community to come together to honor Grillot and raised funds to buy him a house. Their efforts, along with the generous gesture from Charlie Yalamanchili, will leave a long-lasting message showcasing how people from the land of Mahatma Gandhi respond to random acts of violence.

The Pet Park includes ramps for the dogs and other pets to climb on and other obstacles to run around, up and over or through. Guests can watch their dogs and pets play on benches in the park. This allows pet owners to help their dogs exercise and run around during their stay.

“We knew that the Hotel was pet friendly,” says Hotel guest Mya Gency “But when we saw the Pet Park we loved it.” “It gave us a chance to let the dogs run around a little right before we went to dinner.” Gency added.

The Pet Park also helps dogs use up energy so they may end up sleeping better, barking less and have overall less stress during their road trip and stay at the Hotel.

There is no additional fee or charge for use of the Pet Park. Guests are encouraged to clean up after their pets after using the park and keeping the park clean from other trash that may be brought in. It also gives other guests with pets a chance to visit while using the Pet Park which adds to the warmth and friendliness of the Hotel stay.

In the U.S. and around the world it seems there are huge holes in our communication. We have all these awesome new ways of communicating, but it seems many of us have lost the ability to listen. People often simply talk over one another. All you need to do is watch the U.S presidential debates or read about Brexit to see that people are not hearing each other. I am not so naive to think that this game, which if I am really lucky will be played by a few thousand people, is going to change the trend. But maybe if we can get more people learning to disagree, make strategies, talk trash and work things out in the safety of a game maybe just maybe people can start hearing each other in other areas of life.

With great artwork from Brian Allen and well tested game mechanics this game will bring enjoyment to your family and friends. Players take control of a character, each with a unique ability, and try to outlast the others.  With the many choices and interactions that occur throughout the game no two games are ever the same.

Sewing machine distribution helps the forsaken stitch together a new life

WILLS POINT, TX – 28 Mar, 2017 – Outcast and overlooked women once reduced to holding their hands out to beg are now using them to generate their own income in Asia, after being given sewing machines through a major ministry effort by GFA (Gospel for Asia)-supported workers.

Scores of machines were distributed as part of an extensive GFA-supported program to mark International Women’s Day (IWD). Food, clothing and other supplies were also given away as teams visited hospitals, villages and slum communities to share the love of Jesus through acts of kindness and compassion.

The empowering distribution was organized to coincide with the global event celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and calling for gender parity. The IWD focus provided an opportunity to demonstrate God’s love for women in countries where many, especially the elderly and widows, are left destitute because of their lack of opportunities and resources.

“Just as Jesus made a point of affirming women and meeting them at their point of need, we wanted them to know that they have not been forgotten,” said K.P. Yohannan, GFA founder and director. “Our hope is that they will recognize their unique value and worth in God’s sight.”

More than 100 sewing machines were presented to recipients in one community, where local women receive tailoring training from GFA-supported workers to help make them self-sufficient. A community official praised the economic support and other programs “that help to uplift the women in society.”

One of the women who was given a sewing machine at another event told how grateful she was: “My husband was unable to purchase one for me,” she said. “Now I will stitch clothes for others and support my husband financially to meet our needs. This gift will help us earn our livelihood.”

Other income-generating resources given out included mason and carpentry tools and bicycle repair equipment.

The IWD program helped alleviate immediate needs, as well as providing for the future. More than 500 people were given mosquito nets at another event to keep them from getting malaria or dengue fever.

“I could not afford to buy nets for my children,” said one mother. “I am so thankful for and excited by this gift.”

At other events, people received blankets, food packages, personal hygiene supplies, saris and water filters.

One team taking part in the IWD ministry effort visited a leprosy colony, providing food for families there and also giving some to those living in nearby slum areas.

The ministry efforts also gave participants the opportunity to tell people about ongoing services to and for women that are supported by GFA. Among them are literacy classes, health care education programs and support services for widows.

“No one is forsaken in God’s sight,” said Yohannan. “We hope that by offering help and support — especially to some of the most marginalized, who are often women — we can demonstrate God’s great love for each and every person. He sees and longs to make himself known to everyone — man, woman and child.”    

GFA (Gospel for Asia) has — for more than 30 years — provided humanitarian assistance and spiritual hope to millions across Asia, especially among those who have yet to hear the Good News. Last year, this included more than 75,000 sponsored children, free medical services for more than 180,000 people, 6,000 wells drilled, 11,000 water filters installed, Christmas presents for more than 400,000 needy families, and spiritual teaching available in 110 languages in 14 nations through radio ministry.
