12 Oct, 2015 – Hanan Polansky and Adrian Javaherian from The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) published a new paper in the peer reviewed medical journal, Frontiers in Cellular and Infection in Microbiology. The journal has a high impact factor of 4. The paper can be found Pubmed.com

The Polansky and Javaherian paper comments on another article, which deals with breast cancer and a loss of function in a specific gene. The authors of the other article wrote that “A significant event leading to the development of breast cancer is loss of BRCA1 function.” (1) Polansky and Javaherian proposed a second biological mechanism through which stress and the presence of latent viruses cause a deficiency in the GABP transcription factor and breast cancer. This second mechanism is based on the theory of “Microcompetition.” (1) The paper was published on September 24, 2015.

Microcompetition was first proposed in Dr. Hanan Polansky’s highly acclaimed “Purple” book, entitled Microcompetition with Foreign DNA and the Origin of Chronic Disease. In this book, he explains how foreign DNA fragments can cause many major diseases. The book has been read by more than 5,000 scientists around the world, and has been reviewed in more than 20 leading scientific journals.

How do latent viruses cause microcompetition and breast cancer?

According to Dr. Hanan Polansky’s theory, these viruses are genetic parasites. In high concentrations, they microcompete with the human genes, “starve” these genes, and force them to behave as if they’ve been mutated, that is, to behave as if they are broken.

The Theory of Microcompetition is far-reaching. It applies to many viruses, many genes, and many diseases. For example, the authors of the commentary wrote that “The term “Microcompetition” describes the relationship between viral and cellular regulatory elements. It is interesting that many common viruses, which establish a latent infection, have a strong N-box in their promoters/enhancers. These viruses include the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV), Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). In fact, the CMV has the strongest promoter/enhancer known to science.” (1)

Importantly, the authors stressed that “Most individuals harbor a latent viral infection exposing them to transcription factor deficiency. Therefore, these individuals are at risk of diseases that can be triggered by such deficiency, including cancer.” (1)

The glove’s overall structure consists of Velcro hook straps. It also contains four, soft actuators that include attached Velcro loop straps that correspond to the index, middle, ring, and small fingers. The actuators can be easily attached to the glove via the Velcro straps.

The ExoGlove works by being connected to a control system that is comprised of a miniature diaphragm pump, solenoid valves, and a battery, which modulates the pneumatic pressure input into the soft actuators. The glove’s soft actuators are able to generate well-distributed pressure on the fingers, which minimize the localized pressure points that could otherwise cause joint hyperextension and subluxation.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA – 12 Oct, 2015 – On September 25, 2015, the Fraigun Law Group filed a lawsuit for VIOLATION OF CIVIL RIGHTS against the City of Calabasas, its City Manager, several employees and several of its board members: ANTHONY M. COROALLES; ROBIN PARKER; JOHN BINGHAM, FRED GAINES, MARY SUE MAURER, DAVID J. SHAPIRO, and  JAMES R. BOZAJIAN.

Initially, David beat Goliath when Jacobsen, represented by his-longtime friend and advocate non-attorney Gerri Cannon soundly beat the City of Calabasas and their lawyers at the Termination Appeal Hearing.  The Hearing officer found that:

“Based on the analysis, the City did not have good cause to terminate Jacobsen on the collective grounds set forth in the Notice of Intent to Discipline… it is the decision of this Hearing Officer that Jacobsen’s appeal of his termination must be granted, as the City has not sustained its burden of proof.  Jacobsen is entitled to reinstatement to his position as a Building Engineer with all former duties and responsibilities. Jacobsen shall be entitled to back pay and reinstatement of all benefits effective as of the date of termination, Friday, November 8, 2013.”

After the City of Calabasas lost their case and was ordered to reinstate Jacobsen and pay him back wages and benefits, the City surprisingly disclosed for the first time that while Mr. Jacobsen was in the middle of his appeal in Nov 2013, the City “eliminated” the position of Building Engineer, Mr. Jacobsen’s job, without notifying him.

To date, the city continues to refuse to pay Jacobsen his back wages except a meager six weeks.  They continue to refuse to reinstate his job. They continue to refuse to comply with the order of the Hearing Officer they themselves selected.

The City of Calabasas continues to act like a Giant despite the Hearing Officer’s order. In this new lawsuit, the Fraigun Law Group argues, in seven separate causes of action, that the City and its various representatives deprived Jacobsen of his property right, his job!

The Complaint seeks lost wages, reinstatement, attorneys’ fees, various Labor Code damages and penalties and punitive damages.

3D mammograms provide more accurate imaging, particularly of dense breast tissue and can be performed with the ease of a conventional mammogram. Instead of capturing a flat, two-dimensional image of the breast, a 3D mammogram produces 15 angled views to provide a more detailed view of breast tissue. This creates a 3D image that can be analyzed in a series of 1mm layers – like viewing the pages of a book.

The clarity provided by 3D mammography improves detection of breast cancer by 27-50%. It also means fewer follow-up appointments – and less anxiety for patients – by reducing the need to call back patients for additional screening by 17-40%.

Mary Leigh Hunter is one patient who credits Wake Radiology’s 3D mammogram with saving her life. She didn’t have a family history of breast cancer, but she knew the statistics: One in eight women in America is diagnosed with breast cancer and it kills nearly 40,000 women a year.

She insisted on a 3D mammogram and says it’s the best decision of her life. Her radiologist spotted a questionable shadow and later determined she had breast cancer. Her primary physician was astonished the cancer was detected, saying a traditional mammogram would have never caught it. CNN was expecting one more player for the debate, since they had a backup podium in case Joe Biden decided to show up at the last minute. ​And indeed he showed up, but not in the flesh. His presence on Twitter was greater than Chafee’s, Webb’s or O’Malley’s, which is shocking considering he wasn’t even on stage fighting for speaking time.

But the VP’s field may have narrowed after the debate. Clinton came out strong and her debating experience showed. On Twitter, the main points related to the Secretary revolved around #Benghazi, #equalpay, #woman, #uniteblue and #email, the last of which was shot down by Bernie Sanders in his usual grumpy way.

The real surprise apparently was the Vermont Senator himself. Topics around Sanders were dominated by #whoa (not an acronym, just an interjection). While a lot of viewers were talking about his comments on #revolution and #socialism, he was the clear winner of the debate on the social channel, garnering several #great, #won, #winner and #vote.

Surprisingly, there were no noteworthy mentions of other topics such as Planned Parenthood or they Keystone XL pipeline. Even less were the mentions about the other 3 hopeful candidates.

Drinking alcohol at a young age impairs the parts of the brain that control good judgment, impulse control, and learning and memory. LOS ANGELES, CA – 15 Oct, 2015 – A volunteer group has undertaken an agressive fast-track project to re-imagine and renovate the existing outdoor facilities at LA CADA’s Allen House in a short 9 days.  The 65-bed in-patient rehabilition facility has a pressing need to expand its usable space, having quickly outgrown its interior buildings, resulting in the clients’ and their families using the limited green space and adjacent paved area as prime traffic areas for most days’ activities.

Identifying key needs, the volunteer team has created a master outdoor plan that re-imagines the space as a  “Wellness Center”: a place where clients and their families can engage in physical exercise, sports, meditation, and yoga during their process of healing. Specific components include: reviving an existing garden space to create a tranquil and restful space for connection and contemplation, creating shared community spaces through additional shaded seating areas and pergolas, updating sports facilities and equipment to include the existing basketball court and expanding into a volleyball court, re-organizing and consolidating their storage needs, adding a dedicated space for interactive child’s play, and finally, creating a lasting art mural that will stand as a daily reminder of the power of community and possibility of transformation. 

All elements for this project are funded through donations, and the volunteer team has set a fundraising goal of $35,000 to be complete by the construction deadline of Sunday, October 18th, 2015. That same day, a community dedication event celebrating the projects completion will take place from 2pm until 5pm, with the official ribbon cutting of the project scheduled at 3pm. The public is cordially invited to join in the celebrations on October 18th at the Allen House, located at 10425 Painter Avenue in Santa Fe Springs, California.

“Our surroundings, can have such an impact on us,” said volunteer Tom Sepe, “and we want everyone who comes here to feel supported and cared for by this space. The bright colors of the mural, a tranquil garden or a game of basketball, that might be the very thing that gives a person the hope and the knowledge each and every day that there is love, support, vitality and enjoyment in this life. It’s all about an integral healing environment.”

LA CADA – The Los Angeles’ Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse – is a licensed and certified substance abuse and behavioral treatment provider in the State of California and has a well-established history within the Los Angeles community for the last 51 years. The Allen House, LA CADA’s premier residential rehabilition center, is located in Santa Fe Springs, California, and offers adult women and men comprehensive in-patient counselling to treat addiction, alongside co-occuring mental health and physical health conditions in a therapeutic setting.
