    Thirteen ambassadors, 12 CEOs and Managing Directors from the corporate sector, and four former ministers were among the dignitaries who participated in the opening ceremony of the modernized library of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), which was inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn

    The unveiling of the AIT library marked the grand finale of a process of renovation and modernization of the library that was devastated by the Great Thailand Flood of 2011. Having lost a significant portion of its collections to the flood, the inauguration ceremony on 27 April 2018 was a rare occasion when besides 13 ambassadors, representatives of five embassies, six CEOs, two company presidents and three Managing Directors; and three former ministers got together to witness the inauguration. 

    “This could be one of the few occasions when a library inauguration has participation from 18 embassies, and representatives from all over the world,” Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, AIT President remarked. Ambassadors of Canada, Cambodia, China, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Nigeria,Pakistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste, Turkey, and Ukraine participated in the event. So did representatives of embassies of Austria, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, and Nepal. While the ambassador of Canada, H.E. Ms. Donica Pottie, and the ambassador of China H.E. Mr. Lyu Jian (China) were among the five ambassadors who are members of AIT Board of Trustees; eight ambassadors including H.E. Mr. Kirill Mikhailovich Barskiy (Russia) attended as special guests on the occasion.

She also served as the Honorary Chairperson of the International Advisory Committee for the Library Modernization. At the ceremony, HRH Princess Sirindhorn also honored 28 donors who had made significant contribution towards the Library Fundraising Campaign. 

    Also attending were CEOs of blue chip companies in Southeast Asia, including iGroup (Asia Pacific), Jetion Solar (Thailand), PTT Public Company, Thai Pipe Industry, TEAM Consulting, Ngow Hock, Index International Group; Presidents of Bangchak Petroleum and Nawarat Patanakarn; and Managing Directors of Shinki International Company, Thai Pipe Industry, and Bridgex Bina Sdn Bhd, Malaysia. 

    Twenty-eight donors were also honored by the Princess, and this included Chairperson of the AIT Board of Trustees, Dr. Subin Pinkayan and Prof. Worsak.     The Not-for-Profit Aims to End Supply Chain Inefficiencies with a New Blockchain Standard

    Phoenix, AZ, USA – Starting after Memorial Day and continuing through the first days of August, Phoenix Conservatory of Music is offering a plethora of summer programs: Free Days for New Students, Summer Camps for Young Students, Summer Workshops for middle school students and Summer Intensives for High School Students. Programs are very low cost, starting at $30 per day, and are taught with quality teaching artists who are gigging, professional musicians who are also great at sharing their craft! In addition to the low costs, the program has built in FREE days for new students and scholarships and financial aid for students in need.

    “Summer is really a great time to come someplace, explore something new and build friendships with people your age who like the stuff you like” says Phoenix Conservatory of Music, Executive Director, Regina Nixon. “This summer we are really expanding our opportunities and making the most of our new space to create additional, fun and exciting learning opportunities for our community”, says Nixon. “We are so grateful to have the opportunity to expand the summer camp offerings because of the Summer Youth Program Fund through the Arizona Community Foundation.”

    These programs really serve students in the West Valley where Phoenix Conservatory is hopeful students will take advantage of broadening their horizons. “At such a low cost, with additional financial aid and scholarship for qualifying families, we are truly trying to make sure that our community has access to these great programs”, says Nixon.

    To help families make choices about their summer opportunities, Phoenix Conservatory of Music is having a Summer Program Open House that is FREE to families on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 12p-2p and again on May 13, 2018 from 10a to 1p. The open house will be hosted in our location inside Metrocenter Mall (upstairs by SEARS) You will be able to see some of the camp activities and interact with a few of our instructors. Tour our facility (which includes secure entry and independent restrooms).

    • Latin Jazz and Jazz Free: June 01, 2018 9a-4p. Come and learn about different genres of Jazz and how to play them. Bring your instruments. For students who have been playing longer than 1 year. Ages 13+
    • Brass Bonanza: July 02 and July 03, from 5p-8p. Bring your horns and learn from Josiel Perez-Hernandez, local Latin Award-winning musician. Ages 10-17.
    • Windfall of Winds, July 02-03, from 5p-8p. Come and shed the wood and learn tricks of the trade to play your instrument better! Ages 10-17.
    • Camp Rock Free, July 05 and July 06, 2018 from 9a-4p. Play an instrument? Want to be in a band? Calling Singers, Drummers, Keyboard Players, Bass Players and Guitarists! Ages 10-17.

    About Phoenix Conservatory of Music

    Phoenix Conservatory of Music, a 2017 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award Winner, a 2015 Governor’s Arts Award Winner, and 2017 Mayor’s Arts Award Winner, provides a continuum of high quality music education and experiences to hundreds of students annually, with programs ranging from introductory level in-house education programs and after school programs to more advanced private lessons and the most prestigious College Prep Program for contemporary music education in the state: The Berklee College of Music’s City Music Network and P.U.L.S.E. programs. They have a 95% graduation rate (compared to an 86% in the local community), 71% go on to college or university, 43% of those students are studying music or music related fields, and they have earned more than $1 Million Dollars in Scholarship Offers.
