Trois conférences spéciales permettent aux visiteurs de « La Toison d’or. La quête des Argonautes » de remonter le temps.

Le 19 mai, la 14e édition de la Nuit européenne des musées s’est déroulée à Sofia. La galerie nationale (le palais) y a participé, tout comme plus de 50 musées et galeries de Sofia.

La galerie nationale a accueilli à plus de 7 000 visiteurs venus découvrir l’exposition « La Toison d’or. La quête des Argonautes. », dans le cadre de la collection Vassil Bojkov.

Le public a pu suivre le voyage mythique des Argonautes grâce aux 62 artéfacts provenant de la collection privée de Vasil Bojkov. Guidés par trois interventions spéciales des conservatrices, le docteur Lubava Konova et Elka Panova, les visiteurs ont découvert les histoires et les secrets de ces objets précieux.

Lors des conférences ouvertes au public, les organisateurs de l’exposition ont révélé les relations entre l’histoire et la légende ornant ces récipients en or et en argent, ces rhytons, ces récipients rituels et ces cadeaux funéraires. Les intervenantes ont fait découvrir aux amateurs d’histoire ancienne les super-héros grecs qui formaient l’équipage de l’Argo et qui sont partis à la recherche de la Toison d’or sous les ordres de Jason.

Les visiteurs ont suivi les traces des Argonautes en Colchide lors de leurs quêtes. Ils ont aussi découvert les mythes d’Orphée le Thrace, du puissant Héraclès, des valeureuses Amazones, des fondateurs d’Athènes, de Thésée et de la capture du taureau de Marathon, et de la belle Hélène de Troie.

El 3 de mayo de 2018 el Profesor Dr. Athanasios Sideris, Conservador Jefe de la Colección de Vassil Bojkov, realizó una ponencia de una hora y media a modo de evento especial en la exhibición “El Vellocino de Oro. La Cruzada de los Argonautas” – La Colección de Vassil Bojkov.

La ponencia “Leyendas en Plata. Desde Atenas y Jonia a Tracia y Escitia” se celebró en la Galería Nacional – El Palacio, en Sofía, y acogió a más de 150 asistentes.

Durante la ponencia, el Profesor Sideris habló sobre una gran cantidad de raros y excepcionales artefactos hechos en plata entre los periodos Arcaico Temprano y Helenístico Tardío en las regiones de Jonia y Atenas a Tracia y Escitia.

La mayoría de las vasijas y utensilios antiguos formaron parte una vez del ajuar de bebida usado durante los simposios y banquetes. Se dice que, esas fiestas de bebida, primero introducidas desde el Este y más tarde adoptadas por los griegos, eran solo accesibles a los estratos más altos de la sociedad y, naturalmente, las preciosas vasijas empleadas para tales ocasiones eran de una artesanía de una excepcional calidad.

Las vasijas de plata eran decoradas con frecuencia con escenas épicas, mitológicas o religiosas. En esta ponencia, el Profesor Sideris explicó cómo estas escenas se adaptaban normalmente a las tradiciones y rituales locales e incluso en ocasiones usadas como propaganda política. Un testigo de esta práctica es un kílix de plata con un grabado de Teseo y el toro de Maratón, fechado en el 445-440 a.C., ahora parte de la Colección de Vassil Bojkov. La decoración con hojas doradas dentro de la copa de plata muestra a Teseo amansando al toro de Maratón.

De acuerdo con diferentes fuentes antiguas, el joven héroe ateniense fue a Maratón, capturó al toro usando su bastón y lo dirigió a través Ática hacia la Acrópolis, donde lo sacrificó a la diosa Atenea.

Tras las Guerras Médicas, se realizó en Atenas un esfuerzo político consciente para elevar a Teseo al nivel de héroe nacional. En este sentido, en algún momento entre finales de los 70 y principios de los 60 del siglo V a.C, el general Kimon trajo desde la isla de Skyros “los huesos de Teseo”, los enterró en Atenas y erigió un santuario dedicado al héroe mitológico, revigorizando el culto preexistente.

El mismo Teseo, su vida y sus obras, se convirtieron por ello en una expresión simbólica de los logros atenienses durante las Guerras Médicas. ¿Qué puede ser una alabanza más elocuente de la batalla de Maratón que la conmemoración de la captura del terriblemente destructivo animal por Teseo en el mismo escenario?

En su ponencia, el Profesor Sideris también presenta las formas de adquisición y circulación de estos artículos de lujo, de entre los cuales, la mayor y más representativa recopilación pertenece a la Colección de Vassil Bojkov.

Los artilugios de los que se habló en la ponencia provienen de diversas tradiciones culturales y estilísticas. Se fabricaron en varios talleres de todo el mundo artístico antiguo y muchos de ellos fueron, por último, traídos por delegaciones atenienses como regalos diplomáticos para los jefes tribales locales de Tracia, con el fin de obtener acceso a bienes como metales preciosos, madera y pieles de animales. Pero la mayoría de estos artefactos llegaron mediante el comercio e incluso se emplearon como método de pago. Por último, otras formas de adquisición no están excluidas, como el botín de guerra.
