    Comedy Series’ Indiegogo Campaign to Launch in the Fall.

    Toronto, Ontario, Canada (November 13, 2017) — Press Pillay, a boutique digital communications agency, announced today the launch of an Indiegogo campaign for its client SQÚAD.

    SQÚAD, a web comedy series which surrounds women in the African diaspora, is setting out to raise $40,000 on Indiegogo to finish its development. The campaign launched October 9, 2017 and is ongoing.

    SQÚAD will feature the trials and tribulations of five women living in Brazil, a country known for having the second-highest population of Black people outside of Africa. Viewers will follow raw and authentic journeys as the women navigate love, sex, sisterhood, body image, mental health and more from a distinctly non-American perspective.

    “Conversations about Blackness in pop culture typically surround the African-American experience, completely disregarding Black voices in other countries,” said Helena Morgane, SQÚAD’s creator. “With SQÚAD the stories include the voices we rarely hear from – particularly those in Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and Latin America. I want to offer a space that challenges our similarities and differences within the diaspora.”

This powerful earthquake toppled buildings, damaged roadways, and rendered many services unusable. Nearly 400 people were killed as a result with thousands more suffering injuries.
