    The Embrace
    The inauguration of Cesare Catania’s personal exhibition in Monaco Monte-Carlo astonishes by the character of the artworks and the number of art lovers attending.

    02 October, 2018 – Monaco / Monte-Carlo – On Thursday, 27th September, in the magnificent exhibition rooms of hotel Meridien Beach Plaza Hotel in Monte Carlo, took place the vernissage and opening party of the personal exhibition of the artist, which will remain open to the public until 15th January 2019.

    This personal exhibition of 18 works of art has moved the public by the intensity of both the pictures and sculptures.

    Among others, the tapestry painted with oil on canvas entitled “The Embrace” is featured, a masterpiece that represents, in a strict sense, the embrace between a man and a woman and, in an enlarged sense, the embrace between two people of two different colors. This tapestry has already a story… Indeed, among other exhibitions, it was also selected to represent art and “made in Italy” during the Italian culture week in 2016 in Switzerland, an international event organized under the high patronage of the President of the Italian Republic. The only “Self-Portrait” created until now by artist Cesare Catania is also presented for the first time.

    The painting-sculpture entitled “ReArt”, already exhibited in 2017 at the contemporary art museum in Milan “la Fabbrica del Vapore”, also forms part of the exhibition, along with two unique pieces from the famous “The Mouth of Etna” series, the well-known sculptures in silicone, acrylic and steel. Among the 18 presented pieces, feature as well the sculpture entitled “ The Heart of the Earth”, made of marble powder and fragments of a meteorite, the picture painted with oil on canvas “Gospel”, already exhibited during the biennale of Monte Carlo in 2016, two different versions in acrylic and silicone of “The Cut”, “Harlequin in the Land of Giants”, “Flamingos in the Mirror”, so… a number of unique works of art, resulting from the equally unique techniques and inspirations of the artist.

    The event, placed under the sign of elegance and culture, was attended by more than 200 very select guests, among which many prominent personalities of the Monegasque world and international audience, including: Cristiano Gallo (Italian ambassador to the Principality of Monaco), Madame Regine Vardon-West (President of association Amitie sans Frontieres), Anastasiya Vrublevskaya, Mr Nicolas A. Hesse, members of the Bentley Club of Monte Carlo and of exclusive Club 39, representatives of the Princess Charlene Foundation, as well as well-known art collectors and dozens of distinguished guests from the world of high international finance and private banking.

    Liquidity lessons learned a decade after the financial crisis

    “Wow, I can’t believe I can say that the financial crisis was a decade ago,” said Chris Mills, Managing Director of Model Validation Services for MountainView, a Situs company, during Wednesday’s liquidity risk webinar. “It doesn’t feel like a decade.”

    Time flies when you are trying to emerge from a global financial crisis. Now, 10 years later, financial industry executives are assessing whether their financial risk management strategies will enable them to meet ongoing cash and collateral obligations if another crisis, or liquidity event, occurs. Indeed, since the crisis, regulators identified that ineffective liquidity risk management was a key contributor to the crisis.

    Mills, a seasoned executive banker and balance sheet strategist, made it clear in the webinar that predicting the next downturn is not nearly as important as preparing your institution for the next downturn. “The industry was ill-prepared for an extreme systemic crisis,” said Mills. “We just didn’t have the proper plans in place, and stress testing was not a mainstream.”

    With that in mind, Mills asked the audience to consider some of the key deficiencies from the last financial crisis. Here are a few she listed from her own experience:

    (1) Insufficient Holdings of Liquid Assets

    Financial institutions did not have the appropriate buffers in place, whether it was cash or cash equivalent, short-term investments, or un-pledged security portfolios.

    (2) Risky Funding Strategies

    Some financial institutions were funding risky illiquid assets with more volatile, short-term liabilities and had high non-core funding dependence.

    (3) Shortsighted Growth Plans

    Growth and competition is great, but growth for the sake of growth is a shortsighted approach. Many financial institutions placed emphasis on improving earnings per share, pleasing shareholders and increasing stock prices. Many institutions entered into new lending markets and new, unfamiliar products and did not fully understand the underwriting risk and product nuances.

    (4) Lack of Policy and Governance

    Many institutions did not have contingency funding plans (CFP) in place, or did not start developing those plans until after regulators called them to the table.

    (5) Inadequate Cash-Flow Projections

    Few warning systems were in place to monitor all the dynamic forces affecting liquidity.

    Reflecting on the crisis, Mills further explained that many Institutions had a siloed approach to risk management. Key risk red flags from one area of the institution were managed separately from other areas, without knowing how interdependent these risks were. Now, said Mills, we’ve spent a full decade trying to fix these problems.

    Becoming a delegate for the Ripa Ecosystem is a serious responsibility. In Delegated-Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) networks, only a select few are chosen to administer the network nodes that maintain the security and stability of the entire network. At launch, only 101 such delegates will exist. You are here because you are a prospective candidate to fill one of those delegate positions. While the path to nomination won’t be an easy one, we would like to lay out some details and relevant information that we think will be invaluable for you in your journey to joining the delegation.

    Part 1: Why Become a Delegate?

    The primary motivator for many will be the most simple; revenue. Ripa delegates will earn a 2 XPX per block forging reward for securing the network and actively signing blocks. That means, if you want the XPX equivalent of Bitcoin mining, active delegation is it. If you are entrusted with one of the 101 delegate positions within Ripa, you will earn approximately 200 XPX per day or around 6,000 XPX per month for one of the servers that powers the Ripa network. Depending on the valuation of XPX, that could be a substantial revenue stream. Keep in mind, this won’t be an easy job and requires dedication and quite a bit of maintenance.

    Outside of monetary considerations, another strong motivator is influence. Delegates are elected representatives of the Ripa token holders. As such, they have a stronger voice when proposing ideas or changes to the underlying network. Ripa is an open source, open community project that relies heavily on contributions from token holders and delegates alike. The Ripa Crew, together with the active delegation, will pave the way forward for years to come.

    There are countless other reasons to get involved in Ripaex as a delegate. Let members know a little bit about you, how you learned about Ripa, your experience, and what you would do with the forged XPX if you were an active delegate.

    2. Tell your friends. The Ripa Crew alone consists of 30 members from all over the world of different nationalities, races, creeds, colors, political and religious beliefs, and we want to keep that trend going! Anyone and everyone is welcomed with open arms into the Ripa community. If they can’t afford to buy in, hook them up with our bounties section of our forums, and help them earn their first XPX. The more people we bring in, the better it is for all of us.

    3. Participate in the Token Exchange Campaign (TEC). The best way to get involved right now is to participate in the TEC. We need to meet our initial funding goals in order to make Ripa the network we know it can be. Those tokens will also help you pad your voting weight and get you well on your way to forging. From our early calculations, 10 000 XPX would guarantee a delegate slot for early adopters.
